Moorea is a great destination for families with her shallow waters of the lagoon white-sanded beaches, lots of lagoon excursions suiting young ones.

Close to Papeete and flowery, scenic and unpolluted the island is a quiet cocoon for a splendid family getaway.

Coming from Tahiti you have 4 options :

FERRY 50 to 60 minutes AREMITI FERRY and MOOREA FERRY

EXPRESS BOAT 30 minutes AREMITI 4 and MOOREA EXPRESS

4 BOATS INFOS :

Papeete docks at the very right end of the waterfront, Moorea docks in Vaiare Bay.

Discounts for kids and tickets sold per 10 much cheaper.

Connections timable widely known and easy to check.

Departures 5 times a day for each one (fairly in time).

First departure from Tahiti around 6am on week days and 7 on weekends,

Last departure from Moorea around 4h30 on week days and 6pm on weekends.

If you get a car across you might book ahead, especially on weekends and holidays.

Car rentals on arrival/departure docks, better book prior arrival.

"Truck" around the island connecting on arrival and departures of boats.

Taxi-minibus negociable at the ferry dock.

AIRPLANE 10 minutes

AIR MOOREA flies out of Local Terminal in Faaa Airport, close to the car park for rentals.

Moorea airport is located in Temae not far from IA ORA and PEARL BEACH Hotel.

Several flights a day from 6am to 6pm. Very recommended to book ahead.

Flight fare cheaper in the middle of the day than mornings and evening (an express boat roundtrip = a one way happy hour fly)

SCENIC FLIGHT OVER THE CLEAR LAGOON OF MOOREA

If you intend to take a cab on arrival, you can get your transfer cheaper along with your airfare. They usually advice you to do so while paying your ticket and it's worth it.

Chartered flight for maximum 5 adults or 4 adults and 2 kids.
